Dick Palmer,
I was wondering if you have any information in amongst your
research on the MAPLE LEAF. You were mainly interested in the period
previous to 1812, but I was hoping you may have some information for
the time period of 1850-1860. The MAPLE LEAF was built in the 1850s in
Kingston and worked on Lake Ontario as a pleasure and working
sidewheel steamer til the Civil War. I am working on my thesis and
have a lot of information but was curious to see if you had anything I
didn't already have. Her main port was Rochester, NY. She made trips
to Oswego, Niagara Falls and other cities on Lake Ontario. She even
was in the entourage of the Prince of Wales at one time along the St.
Lawrence Seaway. If you would happen to have anything on her, I would
love to know. Would love to share with you what I already have.
Thanks.
